Dog friendly photography!
If there's anything I've learned in my time as a Durham Region Family Photographer, it's that dogs make EVERYTHING better. Bringing your pooch to a family shoot lets me capture your entire family, paws and all! While dog photography is not my main focus, I encourage any dog-parents getting a family session to bring their fur-baby along for some high quality shots, capturing their adorable faces and equally adorable personalities.
I could not get enough of this furry friend. This awesome family decided they'd prefer doing an in-home session, to capture their new addition to the family. A package I offer is in-home infant photography sessions. This not only allows your family to stay comfortable while posing, it keeps your dog comfortable in their own home; so their personality can shine through. This is why for any dog-parents wanting to let their furry friend join the shoot, I highly recommend in-home sessions when including your pup in your newborn photography.
These furry friends can for sure command the spotlight. What I love about photography with dogs is the spontaneity and the complete joy in this pups face. They love the spotlight, and we all know it. Be it a proud older sibling to the newest member of their family or just mamas baby, these fur balls bring laughter and joy to any session!
A testament to the quality of in-home family photography, the warmth and love can always be seen on the entire family's face (even the furry ones).
Here are some tips for bringing your dog to a session (so everyone has a GREAT time):
1. Treats, and lots of them!
2. Another family member or friend to keep the dog occupied for shots with humans only!
3. An in-home session, this keeps your dog comfortable and safe due to their familiarity with their surroundings.
All of the sessions you can see in this gallery are from sessions dating long ago and recent. Some are shot inside during lifestyle newborn sessions while others are photographed outside during a family shoot. I know these images don't all match perfectly in colour and tone but the idea is that every photo session is different. Lighting , time of day, season. These factors all change the colour and tone of what you see. The constant here is the very funny and very cute furry faces of the animals we love. Noted below, this is Gary and he was the best man in a past wedding I shot. Can we get a round of applause for all of the Gary's out there, making weddings and family photos even better one doggo at a time!
