Celebrating a decade of families, couples and babies!
What a wonderful 10 years this has been. From beginning to now, I have never loved what I do more then this. I get to witness so much love between humans. In this last 10 years as a wedding, newborn and family photographer I have grown and learned so much. I am so thankful. I can't believe that 10 years ago I was in full swing photographer adventure mode and was ready and excited about what was to come. I didn't realize how far this career would take me. I am so thankful to my clients, I appreciate every couple that has shared their love story with me, every family that has given me the opportunity to document there fleeting moments. I feel lucky everyday that I am able to be both a stay at home mom to my most favourite people in this world, my family and also have the opportunity to fofill the need to be creative and share energy with others. It's these families that in the words of my 5 year old , fill my bucket. I am grateful for every family that chose to support my small little local business. Every couple that trusted in my work to document such an important day in their lives. I am thankful to all of the new parents that have invited me into their homes and visited the studio for their newborn session. I am grateful to have held so many beautiful tiny little humans. I feel so unbelievably lucky to have photographed so many beautiful and unique little babies who have only just arrived in this world. To the families, the parents and all of the couples that have chose to work with me this last decade, thank you.

There are a few moments that come to mind in this last 10 years that really stand out to me either because they made me laugh, cry or just feel something profound from someone I don't even know. Experiences that have affected the person I am, that have helped carve my values and that just show me all the joy one person can bring to another. Being a photographer makes me feel connected, it reminds me of all of the good in the world. On the darkest days, in the heaviest of storms I have in my lifetime witnessed so many genuinely good moments that I can call on them for some happiness whenever it's needed. Being a photographer and working with so many families really has given me an understanding that we are all pretty similar. What so many of us want is to celebrate both love & family and just to keep these moments close. The biggest reminder of this is when I look at my children and husband and I fear things will not always be like this. They may not always be this good or easy. It's important to celebrate our good in the world because we all know these happy moments in our lives just don't last as long as we wish they would. This thought gives substance to what I do and why I love my job as much as I do. It's this thought that motivates me to keep pursuing photography and save some of these memories for when we will need them most in our lives.
The first time I bought a magazine with my photos published in it, that was a spacial moments for me. That one time that 5 year old called me a fat wonder women because of my lame batman impression, the time I got stuck in an elevator with the bride and groom just before they had to say their I do's, that one time a two year listened to me, surprise weddings, getting pictures of grandpas falling asleep during speeches and of course all the grandmas. I can't get enough grandmas ! I can't help but feel a little guilty. When I think of all the jobs in the world that are so much harder then mine and realize I get to watch grandparents dance to Bob Seger and get paid for it. Done, this is my career for life! There are so many good moments in this last 10 years of being a photographer that it's difficult to pick them out. What a great problem to have!
I am grateful, I am thankful and I am so very appreciative to every human that found me in the midst of an oversaturated world of some very talented photographers. Thank you for these last 10 years. I have supported my family, built a career and strengthened my own values because of it. I am forever grateful. Here's to another 10!
